14k gold with an aquamarine center.
The name “aquamarine” comes from the Latin word for “ocean” and “water”, referring to its blue colour. It's the gem for the star sign of Pisces. In ancient times, aquamarine was said to calm waves. Sailors also wore aquamarine amulets to ward off the treacherous calls of mythical sea sirens.
It was long ago considered a mermaid stone, part of their undersea treasure troves. Roman philosopher Pliny addresses the mermaid treasure in this line handed down over the ages, “the lovely aquamarine, which seems to have come from some mermaid’s treasure house, in the depths of a summer sea, has charms not to be denied.”
