Sand casting is a traditional method that involves creating a mold from sand, which is then filled with molten metal to create intricate jewelry designs. 1. Designing the Model
The first step in the sand casting process is designing the model of the jewelry piece. 2. Creating the Sand Mold
Once the model is ready, a mold is created using a mixture of sand and a binding agent. The model is pressed into the sand to create a cavity that captures every detail. Afterward, the mold is carefully removed, leaving a perfect impression of the design.
3. Pouring the Molten Metal
The chosen metal (such as gold, silver, or bronze) is heated until it melts and reaches a liquid state. The molten metal is then poured into the sand mold, filling the cavity and taking on the shape of the jewelry design.
4. Finishing
After the metal has cooled, the sand mold is broken away to reveal the cast piece. The jewelry is then cleaned, polished, and finished to achieve the desired look and quality.
